Khon Kaen University Library Boosts Student AI Literacy for Co-op Program

KKUL staff recently played a pivotal role in enhancing the AI literacy of over 420 fourth-year students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The initiative was part of the university’s 2025 Co-operative Education Preparation Project, designed to equip students with essential skills before they embark on practical work placements.

The intensive workshops, held on August 30-31 and September 6-7, 2025, aimed to develop students’ information technology proficiency and elevate their understanding and application of Artificial Intelligence. The training specifically focused on preparing students for real-world work environments and fostering their digital competencies.

Mr. Theerayut Balchon, an experienced information specialist from the Strategic Planning and Information Technology unit, led the sessions. His workshops, titled “Generative AI for Creating Images and Creative Media in Co-operative Research,” took place in Computer Labs 3 and 6 at the Information Center Building.

The curriculum emphasized the professional application of AI in research, covering the use of various AI tools for generating images, videos, background music, and infographic design. Students also learned to utilize NotebookLM for efficient data analysis and summarization. Furthermore, the training included techniques for creating engaging and clear presentation slides, demonstrating how Generative AI serves not just as a tool but as a powerful assistant in academic work and presentations. Through hands-on exercises, students gained practical experience and confidence in leveraging technology to improve the quality of their research.

This training underscores the KKU Library’s proactive role as an “AI Clinic” leader. Beyond offering consultation services, the library actively encourages students and staff to engage in practical application through diverse training programs and project development. By systematically integrating AI into academic endeavors, the KKU Library reinforces its commitment to being a “learning hub for everyone,” ensuring students possess comprehensive skills in research, design, and digital communication, thereby adding significant value to both their academic pursuits and future careers.
