KKU Library Hosts Delegation from Souphanouvong University, Laos, for Study Visit

The Khon Kaen University (KKU) Library welcomed a delegation of administrators and faculty from the Faculty of Education at Souphanouvong University, Lao People’s Democratic Republic. The visit was organized to facilitate a study tour and exchange of knowledge on modern library and learning center management, reinforcing strong academic ties between the institutions.

On November 26, 2025, the delegation, led by Associate Professor Dr. Bounchanh Khampheng, Vice Dean for Administrative Affairs, and comprising 25 faculty members, was warmly received by Mr. Wanchat Phumee, the library’s Deputy Director for Services, Physical Plant, and Innovation. The purpose of the visit was to learn about library administration, information resource services, and the development of innovative learning spaces.

The group from Laos was given a comprehensive tour of the library’s facilities, including its self-study areas, Maker Space, the KKU Archives, and various information technology services. Library staff, including Senior Librarian Siwanat Srisunthorn, Librarian Piyapatchr Suwankasem, and library officer Sukrita Mahahing, served as guides, providing detailed explanations and answering questions.

A special highlight of the tour was the “Metaverse Experience,” presented by Mr. Pitipong Pimpa, Head of Strategic Planning and Information Technology, and Mr. Wichayut Sila. This demonstration of the library’s latest virtual reality technology service was met with great excitement, offering the delegation new perspectives on digital learning.

The exchange was noted as impressive and beneficial for the library development of both universities. This study visit highlights the Khon Kaen University Library’s standing as a recognized model for learning centers on an international level. It also serves to strengthen the relationship and open doors for future academic collaboration with Souphanouvong University, with the shared goal of advancing the quality of education and library development in the region.
