Khon Kaen University Library Advances Modern Research, Introducing Generative AI to Enhance Researchers’ Digital Skills.

The Center for Teaching and Learning Innovation at Khon Kaen University recently hosted a training session on “Generative AI for Research,” led by Associate Professor Dr. Kanda Saikaew, Deputy Director for Digital Technology and Innovation at Khon Kaen University Library.

The workshop, held on May 23, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Room E201 on the second floor of the Faculty of Economics building, saw a strong turnout of faculty members, researchers, and support staff from various departments.

The training focused on introducing a range of Generative AI tools, including KKU IntelSphere, ChatGPT, Claude, SciSpace, Gemini, Perplexity, Semantic Scholar, Research Rabbit, NotebookLM, and Google Scholar PDF Reader. Participants also learned effective prompt engineering techniques and ethical considerations for AI use. The session covered the application of these tools across all stages of research, from topic identification and literature review to article writing and journal selection.

Attendees engaged in hands-on exercises, particularly utilizing SciSpace for analyzing and summarizing research articles, and creating questionnaires with ChatGPT and Form Builder Plus. They also practiced identifying suitable journals for publication using Claude and Perplexity, demonstrating how these tools can significantly enhance research efficiency and speed.

Post-training evaluations indicated high satisfaction among participants, with common feedback highlighting the convenience and speed offered by the tools, and their significant time-saving benefits. Many also suggested extending the training duration and offering subject-specific workshops for more in-depth learning and experimentation. This training underscores the critical importance of developing digital skills for modern researchers and contributes to Khon Kaen University’s efforts to leverage AI technology to elevate the quality of its research.
