KHON KAEN – Khon Kaen University (KKU) Library recently hosted a delegation from Japan’s prestigious Waseda University, highlighting its international standing and showcasing its latest learning innovations, including a Metaverse experience.
The visiting group, which included three students from Waseda University, was led by Dr. Komkrit Chantarasena, an instructor in the Industrial Engineering program at KKU’s Faculty of Engineering.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by the library’s leadership team, including Mr. Wanchat Phumee, Deputy Director for Services, Physical Environment, and Innovation; Mrs. Tassanee Inlam, Director of the Administration Division; and Dr. Prasit Pratumrat, Head of the Digital Technology and Audiovisual Unit. The hosts presented the library’s vision and mission to serve as a “Learning Center for All.”
During the visit, the group toured the library’s modern and diverse service areas, which are designed to promote learning in multiple dimensions. Key areas included the KKU Maker Space, a creative zone for students to engage in hands-on projects and develop innovations, and the library’s extensive physical and digital information resources.
A major highlight of the tour was the “Metaverse Experience,” a demonstration of the library’s newest innovation. Mr. Pitipong Pimpa, Head of Strategic Planning and Information Technology, led the session, showcasing how virtual reality technology is being used for educational purposes. The presentation was met with great interest and excitement from the Waseda University visitors.
The visit from the world-renowned Waseda University served not only as an opportunity to exchange knowledge on library management and educational innovation but also reinforced the KKU Library’s capabilities and readiness on an international level.
