
The Khon Kaen University (KKU) Library welcomed a 15-member delegation of administrators and staff from the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lao People’s Democratic Republic, for a two-day meeting and study tour on November 27-28, 2025. The event was organized to strengthen cooperation and exchange knowledge on modern library management.
The delegation was warmly received by a team of KKU Library executives, including Ms. Sutthilak Phadpeng, Deputy Director for Administration and Human Resources; Mrs. Yupaporn Thongnoi, Assistant Director for Strategy and Information Resource Management; and Mrs. Tassanee Inlam, Director of the Administrative Division. Mr. Wanchat Phumee, Deputy Director for Services, Physical Plant, and Innovation, delivered a welcome address on behalf of the library director and presented an overview of the library’s operations. He also presented a donation of 60 books to Dr. Visanou Hansana, Director of the Institute of Research and Education Development, who accepted on behalf of UHS.
The two-day program featured a series of expert lectures from KKU Library staff, sharing their experiences and service innovations. Topics included:
- Management of the WALAI AutoLib electronic library database.
- Techniques for searching information resources in the digital age.
- Development of digital-era services and information resources.
- Leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance information services.
The sessions provided a platform for participants from both institutions to discuss best practices and build academic networks. The visit also included a comprehensive tour of the library’s service areas and innovations. A special highlight was the “Metaverse Experience,” a demonstration of the library’s new virtual reality technology, which offered the delegation exciting new perspectives on digital learning.
The group also visited the “Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and Khon Kaen University” exhibition at the KKU Archives. The exhibit was met with great interest and appreciation from the visitors.
The study tour was highly successful, serving as a valuable forum for exchanging knowledge on library technology and innovation, particularly within the health sciences field. The event has significantly strengthened the relationship between the KKU Library and the University of Health Sciences, paving the way for future academic collaborations beneficial to both institutions and the broader regional library community.
