Khon Kaen University Library Staff Undergo English Communication Training for Enhanced Service

Staff at the Khon Kaen University Library participated in a professional development program this month aimed at strengthening their English communication skills to improve service quality. The hybrid training, titled “Confident Self-Introduction for First Impressions,” was held on March 4, 5, and 11, combining online sessions via Zoom with on-site activities at the library.

The initiative was launched by Ms. Suttilak Padpeng, the library’s Deputy Director for Administration and Human Resources. It directly supports several of the library’s key strategic goals, including the development of a modern learning environment, the promotion of internationalization to better serve diverse user groups, and a specific project focused on enhancing the foreign language capabilities of its personnel.

Led by instructor Puttida Duangchanchot from the KKU Language Institute, the workshop was structured to build skills progressively. The first two days involved pre-tests to assess participants’ existing knowledge, followed by lectures on techniques for professional self-introductions, focusing on appropriate language and building confidence.

The final day on March 11 featured a more intensive program, including a content review, practical role-playing exercises in simulated service scenarios, and a final self-introduction practice to demonstrate improvement. The training concluded with a post-test to evaluate learning outcomes, and certificates were awarded to participants who met the program’s criteria.

The project is expected to equip library staff with a better understanding and practical skills in English communication, enabling them to effectively assist international users and enhance the overall professional image of the university library.
