The Khon Kaen University Library participated in a university-wide community outreach project on Friday, March 6, offering a blend of high-tech and traditional learning activities to the public at the Khon Kaen Railway Station.
The event, part of the university’s “Academic Service for Societal Contribution” initiative for the 2026 fiscal year, was held from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and inaugurated by KKU President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul. The project’s objective was to allow university faculty, staff, and students to provide their expertise and services to the community free of charge. Services were offered across four main areas: health, education, career promotion, and pet care.
Operating under its “Learning Center for All” concept, the KKU Library hosted a booth focused on education. Led by library officials including Assistant Directors Yupaporn Thongnoi and Nitiya Srivoradetpaisal, the team organized five main activities to engage visitors.
A major draw was the use of virtual reality (VR) headsets and metaverse technology, which provided attendees with novel learning experiences. The library also promoted literacy through a book-sharing program and offered recreational activities like board games and coloring.
In addition to learning and entertainment, the booth incorporated an environmental component, with an activity on waste sorting and a collection drive for used materials to foster social responsibility. The library stated that this combination of digital innovation, cultural engagement, and social consciousness is part of its mission to be a sustainable and accessible learning hub.
The library’s booth reportedly received significant attention and participation from the public throughout the event.
