Khon Kaen University Library Celebrates Children’s Day with Tech-Focused Activities and Youth Volunteers

The Khon Kaen University Library, in collaboration with iSchool KKU, KKU Science Park, and a network of over 100 youth volunteers, organized a special event to celebrate National Children’s Day on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Marking the fourth consecutive year the library has held the celebration, the event offered a full day of unique educational activities for children and families in the community.

The event was distinguished by its strong emphasis on volunteerism and hands-on learning. More than 121 student volunteers from local high schools and various faculties at Khon Kaen University served as mentors, guiding children through the day’s activities. This initiative was designed as a “Living Classroom,” providing the volunteers with an opportunity to develop 21st-century skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership in a real-world setting.

A wide array of activities blended technology, creativity, and environmental awareness. Children were invited to explore a virtual world through a Metaverse learning experience, listen to stories told with the help of AI, and participate in drawing and coloring sessions. Other highlights included musical performances by young artists, board games to build strategic thinking, and an environmental workshop called “We Love the Earth,” which taught waste separation and conservation. Participants also toured the library’s “Green Corner” to learn about its resource conservation efforts.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Nitiya Sriworadechpaisan, the library’s Assistant Director for Administration, Organization, and Community Relations, highlighted the library’s role as a “Learning Center for All.” She stated that the event aimed to bridge the gap between classroom instruction and practical application, fostering essential skills for all youth involved.

The celebration drew a large and diverse crowd of young attendees from across Khon Kaen province, including students from Mahathai Suksa Samliam School, Mahathai Northeastern Region School, Srisangwan School, and the School for the Deaf.
