Khon Kaen University (KKU) is not just an institution of higher learning. It is the pillar of hope and development for Thailand’s Northeast region. This vital foundation stems entirely from the immeasurable Royal Grace bestowed upon KKU for many decades by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
To express profound gratitude for Her boundless Royal Grace and to join in mourning, the Khon Kaen University Library Archives has organized a commemorative exhibition titled “The Queen Mother and Khon Kaen University”.
This exhibition gathers records of the Royal Activities associated with Khon Kaen University. These activities have successfully elevated the quality of education and driven sustainable development across all areas of the Northeast region. The exhibition is divided into 5 parts:
Exhibition Components (5 Parts)
- First Step of Hope: Historical photographs of Her Majesty’s first Royal Visit to Khon Kaen University.
- Royal Wisdom and Competence: Khon Kaen University presented Her Majesty with an Honorary Doctoral Degree in 8 different fields.
- A Better Life for Isan People: Her Majesty laid the foundation stone for the Srinagarind Hospital, Khon Kaen University, and bestowed the name “Queen Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeast”. This Center stands as a critical healthcare pillar, caring for the lives of the people in the Isan (Northeast) region, as well as those in neighboring countries within the Mekong Subregion.
- Royal Encouragement for Graduates: Proud moments from Her Majesty’s Royal Representation to preside over the commencement ceremony and present diplomas to the 15th graduating class of Khon Kaen University.
- An Eternal Bond: Stories from the final time Her Majesty performed Royal Duties at Khon Kaen University, a memory that will remain forever impressed upon the faculty, staff, and alumni.
Visitor Information
Khon Kaen University invites all members of the public to join in reflecting upon the immense Royal Wisdom and Grace through the “The Queen Mother and Khon Kaen University” exhibition.
Exhibition Period: October 31, 2025, to October 30, 2026.
