The Khon Kaen University (KKU) Library has unveiled “Nong ARChi,” an AI agent, and the KKU Archives AI Media Hub platform, marking a significant step in the full-scale digitization of its historical archives. This new intelligent assistant aims to transform the traditional archive into a dynamic and easily accessible knowledge repository for students, staff, alumni, and the public.
The initiative uses advanced AI technology to allow users to explore the history of the university, known as “Mor Din Daeng,” in a modern and efficient way. The primary goal is to enhance the process of searching for historical information, making it more effective and contemporary. “ARChi” is designed to act as a seamless bridge between the vast archival database and the user.
The “ARChi” (KKU Archives AI Agent) is an AI chatbot directly linked to the university’s archival database. Users can interact with it as they would with an expert, asking for information ranging from the university’s founding documents and rare historical photographs to landmark research projects. The system processes queries using reliable source data and provides rapid responses, catering to both academic research and personal curiosity.

In addition to the AI search function, the library also launched the KKU Archives AI Media Hub under the concept “Old Stories, Retold.” This media platform includes:
KKU Archives Channel: A collection of rare historical videos, such as footage from the university’s establishment in 1964.
ARChi & LIII Podcast: A podcast offering deep dives into university lore, from the origins of the university’s official seal to unique local beliefs and traditions.
Chat with ARChi: An interactive feature designed to make exploring the archives more engaging.

This project is a key part of the KKU Library’s vision to become a center for lifelong learning. The new services are now available to the public.
